The new Skypilot album is finished! We spent 3 months living in Nashville writing and recording this new album and it has been our biggest project yet. There have been so many challenges and obstacles along the way, yet it makes these songs even more precious to us as they have been birthed from personal difficulties and experiences, testimonies and miracles.
We want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who was able to pledge towards our Kickstarter album project… We did it!
We are so excited to begin recording this new album and couldn’t have done it without you! On July 1st we step into the studio and begin recording at Watershed Recording Studio in Nashville, Tennessee. We’ll be hooking up a live stream so at certain points you’ll be able to tune in ‘LIVE’ and watch the album in the making! Check out the link here: https://new.livestream.com/skypilot/album
We’re so thankful for this opportunity and can’t wait to share these songs with you.

Over this past week we had an amazing opportunity to head to the North Island of New Zealand for the first time. The purpose of this trip was slightly different to previous tours that we’ve been a part of, because we felt that the emphasis was much more about connecting with communities through spending quality time with people, instead of just sharing our songs.
Our good friends Adam Kelly and Pete Siggs were a part of the adventure too, and it was incredible to be a part of a small, yet strong team. Adam is possibly the craziest person we’ve met. There’s not many places in the world he hasn’t been, many things he hasn’t jumped off or bones he hasn’t broken and it’s these things that makes him such a great speaker. He shared his crazy life stories and messages which captivated kids everywhere we went. Pete, who also has travelled vastly throughout this amazing world, has a passion to document travels and capture the most raw and honest of moments. We were also accompanied by an awesome young man, Dom Barton who Adam has been mentoring for some years.
The first three days of the trip were spent in the small community of Otorohanga, a couple hours south of Auckland. From the moment we arrived we were so welcomed by not only the church that were hosting us, but the entire town. We spent hours literally roaming around meeting and chatting to locals about the history of the place and their personal backgrounds. We made a conscious effort to say “yes” to the little opportunities along the way, like playing basketball with the local kids, and inviting literally everyone we met to hang out. The coolest thing was that the church hosting us was also a rock climbing centre open to the public every afternoon, so we had so many opportunities to meet new people and learn some epic rock climbing techniques!
We did 8 events in the three days we were there – everything from primary schools to high schools, to youth connect groups and a Friday night concert. The coolest thing about the Friday night concert was that 160 kids came along!
The rest of our time was spent in an around Auckland playing at a few churches and connecting with some local musicians and event organisers. It’s always refreshing to when you can end a trip with other creative people encouraging them in their gifts too.
We left New Zealand totally inspired. Not only by the incredible beauty of the country, but by how alive and full of ambition so many of the people we met were. We saw many young people make choices to stand for change within their own lives and their communities – and it’s that kind of attitude that’s contagious. A whole nation can change.
We couldn’t have had a better trip to New Zealand and are so thankful for the opportunity. Thank you to everyone who gave us a place to sleep, a meal to eat, a form of transportation, shared a story or just spent time hanging out. You’re all amazing. And the coolest thing, Pete has it all on camera…
Until next time New Zealand,

Happy New Year from The SkyPilot!
We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped make 2011 such an incredible year. From recording our first album and touring the US, to playing at the independance day celebrations in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, it sure has been an amazing year for us. We couldn’t have done it without all the people who have put us up for a night, filled our gas tanks, cooked us meals, or encouraged us along the way. Thank you so much! We’re taking a few weeks off over the Christmas season to spend time with family and catch up with friends before things get crazy again.
What’s next? We’ve got some very exciting things to announce in early 2012 that we’ve been hard at work on, including making plans for future tours and shows.
We pray you and your family have an awesome holiday season and we hope to see you in 2012!

Last Sunday night we had the privilege of opening for an American band called “Fireflight” at Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, California. It was an amazing opportunity to reconnect with friends, as well as meet and spend time with another full time touring band. The church was packed with 1500 people and it was such an encouraging and refreshing time for us to hear how the two songs we shared had impacted so many of the people there. A huge thanks to the Fireflight band and their crew for being so welcoming, and an even bigger thanks to Greg Laurie and Harvest for the invitation!
